Snug Harbor Cultural Center, in partnership with The Vanderbilt Republic, is pleased to present the second of two live productions as response and investigation of εὖτόπος (“Eutopia”) — a large-scale art installation by Sabrina Barrios, Sarah E. Brook, Charles Heppner, Carlton Scott Sturgill, TAXIPLASM, TJ Volonis & Dale Williams — on view until 11 September 2016 at the Main Hall, Hyphen over Shinbone Alley, Newhouse Galleries and Chinese Scholar’s Garden on Snug Harbor’s 83-acre campus at 1000 Richmond Terrace.
A better world is ours for the making and the tools to do the job already exist: what remains is to dispel the illusion that the work belongs to anyone but ourselves. THE EUTOPIA CONFERENCE is an opportunity to engage with the process and practice of seven emergent contemporary artists in an historic atmosphere.
The Conference will feature transmedia talks by the visual artists of εὖτόπος, followed by all-new site-specific performances by Bare Opera × Floating Opera, Chris Herde and International Brazilian Opera to celebrate the closing of this landmark exhibition. 2-channel 8K projection & 4-channel audio equipment courtesy Sound Investment A/V.
Join us for a glorious afternoon of celebration, creative inspiration and spectacle amidst rolling fields of gardens, art and history.
