Twenty masterful and colorful oil paintings will be exhibited at the Gallery encompassing animals in wild frontiers to marsh landscapes to hidden forest sanctuaries.
Jerry Coppola, a native of Brooklyn, NY, has been living and painting on Staten Island for over 40 years. A realist painter working predominantly in oils and watercolor, he attended the New York Institute of Technology and the Art Career School.
He began his professional career as a commercial artist for Family Circle Magazine. Then, after being drafted and while serving as a Military Police officer, he also painted murals for the military. Afterward, he worked as a commercial artist in Manhattan as well as a financial planner.
Jerry says, "I have always wanted to explore, through paint, the cool blue atmosphere of a forest during winter’s early morning.” Jerry loves nature’s beauty and its wildlife.Major influences on Jerry are Andrew Wyeth, Thomas Hart Benton and Winslow Homer.
“While Wyeth and Homer were quintessentially American, and also provide a sense memory for technical precision, Benton was near and dear to me - Benton was, at heart, an illustrator. I started as an illustrator for the army, and have grown to feel that my paintings, where possible, should tell a story.”
